  • Six master class with six world renowned artists and pedagogues.
  • Four curated panel discussions with high profile guest speakers on music and career management.
  • Opportunity to perform and participate in four studio concerts, led by distinguished guest artists.
  • Perform in daily live broadcast on PYPA’s official social media platforms.
  • Appear in live streaming and performing opportunities on PYPA and other partner platforms.
  • Automatically qualify to compete in the 2020 Philadelphia International Piano Competition Live Stream Performance Awards.
  • Opportunities to make lifetime friendships with young artists from around the world.
  • Young artists and observers receive official certificates of participation.
  • Applicants must be born after August 1, 1991.
  • PYPA will accept up to 28 active participants.
  • If not accepted as an active participant, you are automatically qualified as an observer. See Fees.
  • Online application repertoire: two contrasting works, including one that shows virtuosity.
  • *PYPA retains the right to replace a faculty who is unable to attend due to illness or unforeseen force of nature. In the event a faculty is unable to attend due to illness or unforeseen force of nature, PYPA will not refund tuition to any participant that wishes to withdraw.​
  • 2020 Application: USD$75
  • 2020 Active participants’ fee: USD$1,650 (includes six masterclasses, four tailored lectures on music, technology and concert career, four studio concerts, and live streaming on PYPA and partner organization’s online platforms.)
  • 2020 Observers fee: USD$450 (Includes access to all studio concerts, lectures and masterclasses throughout the festival)

Live stream awards

Open to all 2020 PYPA ONLINE Piano Festival active participants.

From August 1-9, each young pianist will perform a live stream performance up to 30 minutes on PYPA Piano Festival’s online platform. Performances will be available to general public virtually worldwide. Repertoire can be freely chosen by the young pianist. 

Best Live Stream Award:
One winner will be selected from young artists live stream performances during 2020 PYPA ONLINE by the festival faculty.

Audience Favorite Prize: 
One winner will be selected from young artists live stream performances during 2020 PYPA ONLINE by audience votes. 

Prizes: 

  • Both winners will be automatically qualified for 2021 PYPA Piano Festival to be held in Philadelphia, PA, USA in August, 2021. 
  • Both winners will be invited to perform solo performances during 2021 PYPA Piano Festival. 
  • Both winners will receive live stream performance opportunities to perform on PYPA and other online platforms.
  • Both winners will receive competition certificates signed by all faculty of the 2020 PYPA ONLINE Piano Festival.  
SCHOLARSHIPS ARE AVAILABLE TO ACTIVE STUDENTS WITH FINANCIAL NEED OR EXCEPTIONAL QUALIFICATIONS. INTERESTED APPLICANTS SHOULD SUBMIT A WRITTEN REQUEST, ALONG WITH SUPPORTING FINANCIAL DOCUMENTATION, AFTER RECEIVING THEIR ACCEPTANCE LETTER.

International Students:
For bank security reason, accepted active participants and observers wiring payments to PYPA via international banks will be contacted by PYPA staff with bank account details after selection process.

Students residing in the U.S.A.:
Accepted active applicants and observers living in the United States of America should make payments by sending personal checks or money orders to PYPA at:

PARTICIPATION CONFIRMATION LETTER AND TUITION PAYMENT Due

*If an active participant or observer wishes to cancel before June 30, 2020, the active participant or observer must send a signed letter and PYPA will refund 50% of any tuition fees. If, however, cancellation is due to an inability to obtain a visa, the amount of refund is subject to approval by PYPA executive directors.
*If an active participant or observer wishes to cancel after June 30, 2020, PYPA will not refund any paid application or tuition fees unless the cancellation is a result of an Act of God or force majeure.
